The Mysterines were the best thing that happened to me in 2022. The minute I listened to Hung Up I fell in love with Reeling . Or with Lia. It’s a grey area. Since then, I’ve been possessed by their darkness. Just wrapped in her voice and those magnificent drums cutting through the powerful guitar riffs. Addictive stuff.  Their new album is out ( Afraid of Tomorrows ) and The Last Dance is a delicious amuse-bouche.  ‘If only you take my hand…’ Listen here I think we all would.

Make no mistake, Szmierek is a poet. A good one at it. He’s trying hard, but getting somewhere. I appreciate that.  The vibe is good, the lyrics are brilliant and the songs bangers. It’s The Streets meets Jamie XX (kind of).  It's what you get when the beats find the poetry, magic. ‘Did you ever learn the words to Auld Lang Syne? Little Simz is cool. She is what cool means. It’s all so smooth. Butter on toast. Red wine with a nice steak. She’s explosive, introspective, smart, strong, talented. Let me know when you find something she’s not good at. I’ve only recently discovered her music (thanks Pete!) but God i’ve listened to everything, repeatedly. Sometimes I might be introvert being one of the best albums of the last decade.   I take a taxi to the office every morning. It’s a small (and stupid) luxury, I know. The journey is short but all I do is look outside of the window, no thoughts crossing the mind, just happiness. They have a new record coming and I can’t contain my excitement. I’ve grown up with these 2 guys. They are part of my life. Their lyrics are my story and their sound is my soundtrack. And the thing about Japandroids is they never disappoint. Never . Every time I think they’re not going to be able to keep the quality of Post-Nothing, they pull through. In style, always. The new single Chicago is an absolute classic.
